About the DC CARE Consortium
- The District of Columbia Comprehensive AIDS Resource and Education Consortium, Inc. (DC CARE Consortium, or DCCC) was created June 19, 1991 in response to Title II of the Ryan White Comprehensive AIDS Resources Emergency Act. Since that time, DCCC has grown into a 501 (c)(3) service provider with a membership of sixty-five HIV/AIDS service providers and community-based organizations. With the support and leadership of DCCC, these agencies are able to give quality services to people living with HIV/AIDS.
- In addition to standard services, as of May 31, 2005, DCCC also provides 90% of the Emergency Financial Services to People Living With HIV/AIDS (PLWHA) in the District of Columbia. These services include
- Emergency Rental Assistance
- Emergency Food Vouchers
- Emergency Telephone Assistance
- Utilities Assistance
- Short-Term Rental Assistance
- Tenant Based Rental Assistance
- In addition, DCCC provides other supportive services to the HIV/AIDS community including
- AIDS Clinical Trials Information and Orientation Network (ACTION)
- Strategies for Outreach, Unification, Networking, and Development (SOUND)
- Strategic Enhancement and Recruitment for Volunteer Efforts (SERVE)
