Emergency Assistance Programs
These programs provides financial assistance to eligible households to prevent eviction for non-payment of rent, interruption of utilities, or interruption of basic telephone service. In addition, the EFA program provides tokens and fare cards to support transportation to HIV related medical and support services appointments as well as food vouchers for emergency food needs. The EFA program is funded under Ryan White Part A through the DC Department of Health HIV/AIDS, Hepatitis, STD, and TB Administration (HAHSTA).

The purpose of emergency assistance programs provided by DC Care is to reduce barriers that consumers face in accessing or adhering to treatment. Assistance is awarded based on assessments made by case managers. Therefore, we can only receive applications for assistance from a case manager or housing specialist. If you are a consumer in need of assistance, please contact your case manager. If you do not have a case manager, click here for a resource guide containing a list of agencies providing case management for people with HIV for further information.
